Pandemic Pizza: Gourmet Pizza in San Diego

Pizza from Pandemic Pizza San Diego

When you’re in the mood for a pizza and living under stay-at-home orders due to a global pandemic, who do you call? Pandemic Pizza of course!

Created by two local chefs on furlough from their jobs, the idea behind Pandemic Pizza was simple: pay it forward to the health care and essential workers that are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. What we love the most about Pandemic Pizza is that each order not only helps the chefs and their families, but also includes a dollar donation towards supporting the community during these unprecedented times. With that in mind, we couldn’t wait to place our first order.

The chefs, Brandon Sloan and Chris Gentile use fresh and local ingredients and the menu of the day depends on what is available at stores. We ordered a Peruvian style pizza with pickled red onions and thin crust to die for. We also ordered a burrata salad that was topped with fresh arugula and marinated tomatoes. The portion size was perfect for a couple of two and would go well with a nice Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.

Pandemic Pizza has been so successful that they’ve moved into RoVino The Foodery at 969 Market St. in East Village neighborhood to expand their operation and continue to serve the community. While we highly recommend ordering yourself some food, straight up donations are also accepted and go towards feeding our community. Excellent food, supporting local businesses and our community all at the same time … that sounds like the perfect date night to us.
